Environmental monitoring plan for the Atacama Salt Flat

We hold an Environmental Monitoring Plan which forms part of the commitments established in the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) of the project “Changes and Improvements to Mining Operations in the Atacama Salt Flat”.

Through this plan, we evaluate over time the state of the environmental systems of the salt flatgenerating continuous information that allows us to understand its evolution and act responsibly.

This monitoring considers:

Measurements of levels and physicochemical quality of the waters at different points of the territory, including shallow and deep wells, level gauges in lagoons and gauging stations.

Measurements of meteorological variables through the Chaxa and KCl stations, which provide key information about environmental conditions.

How we measure our impact on the Salar

This plan is implemented through various tools that allow us to evaluate the real effects of the operation in the Atacama Salt Flat, considering both its physical components (such as water and environmental conditions) as their biological systems.

Biotic Environmental Monitoring Plan (BEP): We monitor the flora, fauna, and ecosystems of the salt flat.

Online monitoring: We provide real-time environmental data to transparently monitor system variables.

Hydrogeological management: We analyze the behavior of water and brine to make informed decisions and safeguard the balance of the salt flat.
