Milestones that marked the management of 2024
The 2024 Sustainability Report presents the company's main progress and commitments in environmental, social, and production matters, reaffirming its role in the global lithium industry. The document highlights a strategy focused on water sustainability, operational efficiency, and the consolidation of long-term partnerships for the development of the resource in Chile.
One of the key milestones is the commitment to reduce continental water extraction in the Atacama Salt Flat by 50% by 2030, driving improvements in efficiency, innovation, and the electrification of processes to lessen environmental impacts. Along these lines, the report also presents progress in energy management and in reducing emissions associated with operations.
Another key point is the signing of the alliance between SQM and Codelco for the development of the Salar Futuro project, which projects the joint management of the Atacama Salt Flat between 2031 and 2060, consolidating a long-term vision for lithium production in Chile.
The document also highlights the consolidation of SQM Lithium with a share of close to 17% of the world lithium market, along with obtaining and maintaining international certifications in quality, environment, safety and energy efficiency.
