Responsible supply chain management
SQM Salar SpA's 2024 Responsible Mineral Supply Due Diligence Report highlights the progress made in traceability and control of the lithium supply chain, along with the strengthening of responsible mining standards and risk management.
During this period, monitoring mechanisms for the lithium chloride (LiCl) solution were strengthened, from the Atacama Salt Flat to the Carmen Lithium Chemical Plant, with no significant discrepancies recorded in the logistical processes. Furthermore, procedures related to conflict zones and high-risk areas were updated, confirming that the supply comes exclusively from the company's own operations in Chile.
The year was also marked by the development of new policies on responsible sourcing and human rights, as well as progress on standards such as IRMA and RMAP. These achievements were complemented by new certifications in gender equality and work-life balance, information security, and energy management, along with the start of implementation of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
