Agricultural innovation in the desert
In 2016, we started a project in the community of Socaire hydroponic production which functions as a research center for the area, with the objective of identifying the best species and varieties of crops to produce locally using hydroponics technology.
Currently, they are produced 6.000 heads of lettuce per month on an effective surface of 1.000m²This allowed the community to generate permanent employment for four workers during 2019. The program was replicated in the community of Talabre, expanding to include fruit and leaf crops in live substratewhich allowed the incorporation of five traditional farmers.
During 2019, the program focused on improving and repairing infrastructure, as well as building civil works to support production, while also maintaining technical assistance and continuous monitoring of the production process.
