Traditional textiles Atacama
We launched the “Casa Telar” project in partnership with the ONA Foundation. Through this project, we aim to revive the textile art and ancestral knowledge of the Lickanantay culture. 2019 was marked by significant progress in the program, primarily within the working groups of the communities of Toconao, Socaire, Larache, and Talabre, with the fundamental goal of promoting and showcasing the Lickanantay textile tradition of the Atacama region.
In San Pedro de Atacama, in the town of Toconao, the first Textile Art Documentation Center operates, a space that allows to complement the work developed by the women who participate in this initiative, which seeks to contribute to preserving the textile heritage of the inhabitants of the commune.
