Water efficiency for better crops

Started in 2008 in Talabre, this program It began with the planting of 0,2 hectares under pressurized sprinkler irrigation, with the aim of improving the water efficiency and crop production. After validating the improvements with farmers and the community, the program was expanded in 2011 with the support of the Foundation for Agricultural Innovation, focused on research and training for the emerging project.

During 2019, the work focused on establishing the alfalfa plots in sector 3 and standardizing the irrigation system. Alfalfa production He made three cuts during the season., with yields of 12 tons in the first cut, 15 in the second and 20 in the third.

This undertaking is part of our commitment to supporting agricultural projects that improve productivity and efficiency in the communities of the Atacama Salt Flat.
